Innis Residence Council
The Innis Residence Council (IRC) is a student-run governing council for the students who live at Innis Residence throughout the academic year.
Innis Residence is organized into 6 houses: First, Devo, Taddle, Vlad, Ajax and North. Your house is decided based on where you live within the residence. For example, those living on the first floor will be in First house.
Each house elects Junior and Senior representatives at the beginning of the year to participate in the Innis Residence Council, a democratic student organization that oversees the entire residence. They vote on crucial decisions such as forming committees to address student needs or amending the constitution which outlines the code of conduct. At the end of the year, they hold elections for core council positions such as the President and the Treasurer. Getting involved with the IRC is a great way to may an impact in the residence community.
Living at residence is like living with one giant family in a single building. Feel like playing Mario Cart at 2 am? Call up your friends and meet them in the games room! Movie nights, pool, ping-pong or just hanging out, there are rooms in the residence suited for all your gatherings.
The IRC also holds fantastic residence bonding events throughout the school year, including House Olympics, Iron Chef, Lunar New Year celebrations, Semi-formal and many more! And If there is an activity you want to run, be it a Harry Potter marathon or a Spicy Noodle challenge, the IRC will assist you to make it happen. Joining in and having a blast is a huge part of what makes living at Innis residence so awesome.
Hey everyone! I’m Josie, I am currently a third year philosophy specialist with a minor in writing & rhetoric. I love to talk about philosophy, music and memes, and can’t wait to meet all of the incoming Innis students this year at orientation! Along with being one of the Orientation Food Executives, I am also this years Innis Residence Council President (IRC)!
As President I oversee the Innis Residence Council with planning and finances, and act as the official spokesperson for the IRC. I also chair bi-weekly meetings with IRC representatives and the Clubs & Committees of the Residence. The IRC hosts a variety of social events throughout the year that try to connect students living on Residence with one another! If you have any questions, or are looking to get involved please feel free to email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org !
The IRC has a variety of positions open to incoming students to Innis College Residence. In September, applications for IRC First-Year Representatives (6 positions available), the IRC International Co-Chair (2 positions), Ads and Publicity Director and Photographer will open.
